Family Support Service
EMBRACE is ELKOLET’s family support
arm, offering
practical help and emotional support to families experiencing various
difficulties.
ELKOLET recognises that children’s behaviour can affect the
family unit or the child can be affected by
difficulties in the family unit.
The Parenting Courses and Support Groups are available to all parents/carers with a child aged between 4 and 16.
Family Support Mentors are currently limited to those parents/carers whose child attends an Alton Cluster School – please contact your child’s school to find out if you are able to access this service.
Family Support Mentors
Our experienced team of Family Support Mentors will meet with families in their own home, at school or at the ELKOLET Centre to work with the parent(s)/carer(s) to understand the best way to assist the family. Our support team works with families to address their specific needs to find resolve and bolster the family unit, providing a safe secure environment for all concerned
Parenting Courses
Free courses aimed at empowering parents/carers with the skills and knowledge to best support them in their role as caregiver; e.g.; The Nurturing Course, From Timid to Tiger, Understanding Your Child's Behaviour.
Support Groups
ELKOLET’S support groups are aimed at parents/carers, providing a safe environment where caregivers can share their experiences, learn from each other and build a mutual support network. The sessions will be complimented with guest speakers, mini courses and having the opportunity to learn about new products, techniques, and 3rd party support programmes.
Story Links
Story Links is an intervention to support pupils at risk of exclusion by enhancing the Pupil-Parent-Teacher partnership. Using therapeutic story writing to support pupils’ emotional well-being and reading skills, the intervention involves the pupil, parent(s)/carer(s) and teacher(s) in the co-creation of stories that address the pupils’ behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESDs).
